This hose is not for draining the water, the reason for it installed almost at the center of the dishwasher is for venting and circulating the air and balance the pressure inside it for better wash and most importantly better dry as it works as an air intake when the steam escape it from the top while in the drying process.

We lucked out that someone had purchased one and then returned it and we got it out of their clearance area at a fantastic price.
