• I have had my GW6900 for about 5 years and it has always just charged from wearing it outside in the sun. Great watch and I'm actually thinking of getting one for my son.

• Solar cells - supposedly tough solar so it last a long while after fully charged (~10 months?)

• It is battery operated but its a lithium battery and you never see it or replace it until it wears out much much later. It comes with a recharging dock. You don't have to plug it in, but you just lay it on its dock. Very convenient.

• Battery operated only, and comes with a magnetic docking type charger that uses a standard micro USB charging cord that plugs into the dock. Without the dock, you can't charge it. I have to charge mine about an hour every day for 100% charge.
