Q: QuestionAre most external SSD hard drives compatible with Mac Time Machine, or are there only specific drives that are compatible with Time Machine?
Asked by CuriousD.
- A:Answer Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us, Most external drives are generally compatible with macOS Time Machine; however, we are unable to provide recommendations or support for third‑party storage devices. The Crucial X9 external SSD is compatible with Time Machine, but please note that it is shipped in the exFAT file format. To use this drive with Time Machine, you will need to reformat it to APFS, which is the required file system for Time Machine on recent macOS versions. Please refer the below link to format the SSD in Mac OS. https://www.crucial.com/support/articles-faq-ssd/formatting-usb-storage-drive-macos Meanwhile, if you have any further query, please feel free to reach out to us.
