A:Answer When I was researching to buy my new gaming computer, I was undecided at first over the number of cores I wanted to have. The I7-6700K with 4 cores, or one of the i7 CPU's with 6 or more cores.
There are a lot of very good articles out on the internet on this subject. And from the few I read, the answer is that it just depends on the games you play. I say games because this computer is advertised as a gaming computer, so that must be your primary interest.
Many games do not multitask, and therefore do not benefit from multiple cores. But those same reviews also demonstrated that some games will benefit from more than 4 cores, but not by much. The hard data is out there if you need more information.
I ended up picking this computer with the i7-6700K processer because of these reviews. But if it puts your mind at ease I recommend doing some research and read the reviews yourself. There are many factors to consider besides gaming. If you do video editing, or tasks with a lot of multi-tasking then you may benefit from a processor with more than 4 cores.
