The computer has an Intel 8th generation i5-8265U 4-core processor, with a base speed of 1.6 GHz that can boost to 3.9 GHz. The processor is "variable speed" (that is, it runs at different clock speeds depending on load). Watching mine in normal use, the processor has been running anywhere from 1.1 GHz to 3.4 GHz, depending on what is being processed. At rest, it seems to settle in around 1-1.25 GHz.
