The manufacturers warranty will cover any hardware failures by the date they tell you. This will include things like a failed hard drive, bad screen, unresponsive trackpad/keyboard, or a main board/power failure. It will not cover anything accidental, including power surges. It also will not cover issues with Windows OS unless the problem is caused by a piece of hardware.
