is this backwards compatible to 6.1 speaker set up? null

Not sure what you mean by a 6.1 setup, have never heard of that, so I am going to side with no. Each of the five speaker channels are independent along with the two subwoofer outputs. It seems like you may be equating a 5.2 => 6.1, which isn't possible.

I dont think so. It has plugs for Front Center Sorround and 2 subs
