Great Inexpensive Unit

Needed to replace my 15 year old JVC receiver and picked this unit up. Setup assistant makes easy work of connections and audio dial-in. Plenty of HDMI inputs and I like that you can connect your phone via Bluetooth. Volume control shows up as a bar on your TV so no need to squint at the receiver display anymore.
Minor complaint and its not really Denon's issue.... my Verizon TV remote is synched to the receiver, but the volume button doesn't work as seamlessly with the receiver as it did with my JVC.

I purchased this equipment to substitute an old one (Onkyo) and fitted perfectly to the system already in place, with the nice updates: bluetooth, hdmi, etc

I walked into my local Best Buy store looking for an Onkyo that was on sale. They were sold out so I bought this one on a whim.
This receiver is good for both novice and experienced audiophiles. It was about four pounds lighter than the Pioneer it replaced. The on screen menu is excellent and easy to operate. The initial setup process is well designed and executed. The blue tooth capability is great at this price point. Also, you can pair the two optical inputs to any of the HDMI ports. In settings make sure you switch Input to digital instead of Auto or HDMI.
This receiver woke up a 30 year old pair of speakers I had. Clean, dynamic sound no matter the track. The only drawback to this unit is that it has spring clips instead of banana plug connectors. If I ever need another receiver I'm going back to Denon.

Nice Receiver for the cost. ARC issue with SONY TV

Was a nice receiver for the cost. Sounded good, Worked easily. Nice Automatic Setup process although the graphics are low resolution. Setup displays on the TV. You have to make sure the TV is on when starting the Setup.
I returned it because I never could get it to switch inputs to get return audio from aSony x900e TV when using the TV native Streaming APPS. I had to switch inputs on the Receiver to "TV Audio" using the Receiver remote.
HDMI CEC (Bravia Sync on Sony TV's) should handle that.
This made a one remote solution impossible without using the Harmony. I wanted to try to do this using ONLY the TV remote as you are supposed to be able to do.
Returned it and purchased the Denon 1400H on sale for about $100.00 more.
Works perfectly.. Switching to an APP on the Sony x900e such as AMAZON OR NETFLIX on the TV switches the input on the Receiver to TV Audio and you can hear the App Audio, and control the volume. nice...
Switch back to "TV" on the Sony remote and you can now hear the Audio coming into the Receiver form my Uverse STB.
IF you have a different brand TV apparently this is not an issue. this is what I learned in the Sony Support forums.. I'd use this if I had and LG or a Samsung.

In short: there is probably nothing better on the market for the price.
This is inherently a smart receiver and will decode sound almost immediately to determine the correct settings when listening and watching different media. I use mine connected to an LG 4K TV, Xbox One S, and use the entire Polk T-Series of speakers connected in full 5.1. I run the Xbox through the receiver first so that there is no sound quality lost by coding from the TV.
The listening experience from this receiver is phenomenal for me. I primarily watch action movies and listen to Spotify through the Xbox. The ability of the Xbox to play 4K really helps this receiver shine as well; it will automatically code and set itself to the highest level of sound that the movie will play in.
This is my first A/V receiver and I have been pleasantly surprised by it. Even from first plugging it in, setting it up and control the different levels is very intuitive. The addition of Bluetooth connectivity adds a unique touch to be able to control the device from a smartphone. The controller app also houses a user manual for troubleshooting.

We have owned denon receivers for over 40 years and this is our 4th and we are still running 2 of the older models. We have only had the new one for a few days but it sounds great and the set up was easy. It has many great functions and the blue tooth is awesome.

Amazing entry level receiver, marred by interface

First off this is a great entry level receiver, it gives amazing sound and setup is pretty easy. But the interface is crap, it's way too basic, main issue is you can't change the name of the inputs, my last entry level Denon I could, not this one, no WIFI, but it has bluetooth. Seriously, it's not like it's another chip. Lastly it forgets to turn the sound on sometimes, a quick reboot fixes it, should be able to be fixed with an update from Denon.

Product is good for the price. Hooked it up with polk speakers i get clean sound and amps up pretty good no distortion, easy basic set up. Make sure speaker watts are not over thw watts per channel this reciever gives. Or else you might be disapointed. For the price and 145 watt per channel. I cant complain. I use it for gamin movies n mainly bluetooth wit phn for music.

Got this Receiver to go with my Martin Logan Speakers I picked up and it works well. Features are nice, Bluetooth works well with iPhone, mac, and other devices. Sound comes out great and lcd screen is nice. My only semi disappointment is the remote seems cheap and the volume goes up by .5 annoying to lower and raise quickly. Besides that for the $ a good buy.

Bought this Denon to replace a Sony unit that completely failed after just over 1 year. Set up was easy and sound quality it delivers is phenominal. Easy to operate and has great flexibility. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the fact that no amount of programming attempts will allow my DirecTV universal remote to control the volume of the Denon.

In need of a way to listen to our extensive collection of old albums we purchased this receiver. The sound is fabulous, easy to adjust. The only drawback was in setting it up, we didn't realize we would need to hook up the tv to the receiver to see the installation instructions. None-the-less my handy husband did a great job and we love it!

I replaced a older Sony receiver that wasn’t 4K pass thru. It is a ok unit, but not the easiest to figure out, no directions for setup other than on display when you plug it up, I don’t like volume control either, takes several turns to get it turned up.

I paired this receiver with a Logitech 650 harmony universal remote and it works Very well. I could probably adjust the sound a little better to my speaker set up but it works very well and sounds great. Plus it hides the cables so there is only one HDMI going to the TV.

Holy cow, this receivers sound far exceeded my expectation. Set up was very easy also. The clarity and separation for this price range is ridiculous. If your on the fence with another brand (which I have most of) take my advice and buy this Denon receiver.

This receiver works great for my 65 inch TV. I have purchased many Denon products and they are great quality. My old one still worked fine but due to technology the older hookups just didn’t cut it. This is a fine updated receiver at a very reasonable price. The only negative is the volume when using the remote. It is either too slow or too fast. Other than that I love it.

Have this paired with the Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers and it sounds amazing! So easy to set up and plenty of inputs to connect everything I own.
