• Yes - you can pull a little trigger right where the handle is on the wand. This reduces the suction dramatically and effectively stops the roller (since it is powered by air). This mode is mainly for gentle cleaning - like on drapes - so I'm not sure it would be effective at cleaning carpet while in use like that. There is no separate on/off for the roller brush.
