- Answer Hi there, this is Tia from Dyson. Happy to explain! Air conditioning units and the Dyson PH04 Humidify + Cool Formaldehyde purifying fan are two very different products that work in very different ways. An air conditioner refrigerates the air it supplies, allowing the air in the room to be made cooler than the ambient temperature outside. The Dyson purifying fan cools a person by moving air over and around them. It's the air flow from our blade-less fan that provides personal cooling effects. With that being said, you will not want to expect the ambient air in a room to drop to cooler temperatures when only using a fan. Thanks for your support of Dyson technology! - Answer It is recommended you use water that is less hard/mineralized as it keeps you from cleaning it as often. But tap is doable. This is not the heated option and is instead the most advanced filtering option for those with extreme allergies or asthma sensitivity.

QuestionHow often does the humidifier component need to be cleaned? And how does one properly clean it? I fill it up every other day with tap water and have done no cleaning since I have owned it ~4 months. Is that okay or am I missing something?

- Answer After 4 months I would for sure clean it. If you don’t have the app installed I would download it. In the app it will let you choose your water hardness and it will notify you when it needs to be cleaned. Based on my water hardness I get about 1400 hours before I should clean mine.

- Answer Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. CADR stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate. This is the volume of filtered air delivered by a purifier in a given time frame. This measurement doesn't represent the quality of air leaving the unit, only how much. For this reason, we feel that it's a largely irrelevant measurement. This does not in any way represent a machine's ability to effectively mix the purified air with the ambient air in the room. Further, CADR testing is performed in an empty room, with a ceiling fan to simulate air movement. Our product has a lower CADR, but actually projects the air much further than other products, features better filtration, and more effectively mixes the air in the room. We hope this helps! - Answer There is a similar model for about $100 less that doesn’t filter formaldehyde but it’s still pretty pricey. If you’re just looking for a humidifier I would search for a different brand if you want to save money.
