“changing ink cartridges this is the second and possible third printer that after I have purchased $60.00 worth of ink cartridges and after installing them the printer doesn't print. I even took the first one this happened with to the IT department at my work and they couldn't fix it. They said everything seemed to be working properly but the heads just weren't connecting to the paper. With my current xp-410 it worked just fine but then I didn't use it for a couple of months and now it won't print. went through head cleaning several times and everything else the instructions said to try. I finally put in new cartridges and it still won't print. What is the problem with inkjet printers? I don't print photos and usually print in just black, occasionally color. Do I need to spend $150.00 for a small home printer?”

Considering the frustration level, I would say Yes. It's not worth it to keep spending $60 on ink for a printer that doesn't work. And you can get excellent home printers for under $80 now, so if I ever had an issue with one of my printers, I would literally just throw it out and go get another one. It's not worth the price it would cost to pay someone to fix the printer, when new ones are so cheap. I don't know where you saw $150, but look around at Best Buy, they have plenty excellent printers for less than $80. BUT - I would suggest you shop for printers the way I do. Shop for ink first, and find the cheaper ones. Then choose a printer that uses that cheaper ink, you'll thank yourself later when you're saving money buying new ink.
