A:Answer The trial cartridge that came with the printer is a 'demo' size; I've had this printer 3 weeks, and with moderate printing, used 1/2 the black and under 1/5 of each of the colors. I purchased 822XL cartridges, as they have most ink, ready when I need to replace. I especially like the 'density' feature that allows you to cut up to 50% of the ink for drafts, and find 30% works well enough.
