Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does need internet to print to install printer on computer or laptop even if you are only wanting to us an USB cable. At my church we do not have access to the internet or wifi. I bought this specifically because it came with the CD that I thought would have the software for installation. I could not get the the CD to work in our Desktop that has Window Vista or our laptop with Windows 10. I could do Wifi Direct from my Iphone using the Epson Smart app. I finally called Epson support. I was told even though it comes with a disk you have to download first the driver software from the epson website. I was able to use the Hotspot on my phone to set up the laptop but could not do the Desktop. I can now print directly from laptop using the usb cable without any internet. The older desktop cannot connect to a hotspot. I think it is very misleading having the CD. To summarize: You do need access to internet to download software. Once installed then you no longer have to use internet to use printer.

However, some features, such as scan-to-email, that require an internet connection will not work. Additionally, you will need to manually download and install the printer drivers from the official Epson Support website if you encounter problems with the installation using the included CD-ROM.
