I used my Garmin in Costa Rica. I got a free map from the http://www.openmapchest.org web site and put the map on a micro SD card which was inserted into the Garmin. Then I simulated the GPS and the location to Costa Rica to test it. When I got to Costa Rica, it loaded the Costa Rica map and worked really well. As long as the Garmin has the capability to add a map to a micro SD card you should be able to use it any where you have a map for and get a GPS signal. I really doubt that you can or shoud delete any of the maps/files that come with the GPS.
