“battery charge unit will not charge battery - works ok when plugged into power but no battery indicator - sometime unit when plugged to power source will go to battery mode but since it has not charged battery will go to shut down "low battery"”

Take it back for Geek Squad protection and get a new one. I've had them do that in the past. Never had a problem getting an exchange either. I ALWAYS buy the protection on my Garmin's!
