- Answer Hi cyberdot- You can program the oven to automatically begin Time Cook after defrosting. When programmed, the oven will begin defrosting. After defrosting is complete, Time Cook will count down. It does not feature any other multistage cooking. Thanks for viewing GE! SUEatGEA

QuestionWhat is the width and height of the door opening of this microwave? A couple commenters mentioned that the door opening is very narrow and you have to tilt dinner plates to put them in. My plates are 10.75", would they fit through the door?

- Answer Hello - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we are happy to help you. This is a very nice microwave. The cavity is 12" wide x 8-3/16" high x 12" deep. The door opening is slightly smaller than 12" wide because of the indention in the side wall, but your 10.75" plates should fit without having to be tilted to be placed in the microwave. QuestionUnder Cabinet Hanging OptionThere was a previous question about being able to hang this microwave under a cabinet however the model number was not the same as the product I would be buying. Can you hang a GE - 0.7 Cu. Ft. Compact Microwave - Stainless-Steel/Black (JES1072SHSS) under the cabinet with a JXA019K hanging bracket? Thanks!

The JES1072SHSS microwave does not offer the option of hanging it under a cabinet and the hanging kit will not fit this model. Our .7 cubic foot Model #JEM3072SHSS offers the under-cabinet hanging kit #JXA019K and can be hung under the cabinet. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

QuestionHello, I have a model J E47 001 microwave, manufactured in July 1988. KW:1, VAC/HZ 120/60. It still works but has no turntable. Is the cooking power 1 kilowatt? most new ones seem to be 700 watts. Is it still safe and reliable after all these years?

- Answer This microwave was introduced in the late '80s and offered 500 watts of cooking power. We didn't include turntables in our microwaves back when this model was available. We did offer a rectangular/square glass cooking tray (WB49X0563) which is no longer available to purchase through GE Appliances. If you aren't seeing any evidence of sparking or arcing inside the oven cavity when in operation, the unit is fine to use. -Vikki@GEAppliances

- Answer If your microwave runs but is not heating, there could be one of many components that is not working properly. Please make sure the “Timer” function was not inadvertently used. Also check to ensure the door is closed securely; open the door and close it firmly. This confirms the engagement of the door's safety mechanisms. -- If these suggestions do not solve the problem and the microwave still won't heat, see page 15 of the Owner’s Manual for warranty exchange information. - Answer Model JES1072SHSS is designed for countertop use, and we cannot recommend installing it in a tight or enclosed space. Any area you install the microwave would need to have adequate air clearance on each side (3"), the top (3") and the rear (1"), or the unit may not function properly. Additional information on air clearance and location requirements is available in an article on our GE Appliances website titled "Microwave Air Clearance - Countertop Only Models"; you can view that when you look up the title and click the Support tab.
