Q: QuestionOur vent fan turns on every time the microwave is used. Is this normal? To clarify, it's anytime the microwave is used, at all, the moment we hit start. Nothing is hot or cooking underneath. Not confusing the "normal" fan, it's very clearly the vent fan.

• A:Answer It turns out it is normal. The online instruction manual does not mention it, but the manual inside the box stated it quite clearly that the vent fan comes on anytime the microwave is used, not just when you wish to use it. It simply doesn't have a separate cooling fan for the electronics like most microwaves. I ended up returning it for a different model.

Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. • A:Answer I have the same issues. We are remodeling our kitchen and they had to pull the microwave out for work and I was told that a part in the back that should connect to the duct is missing. It is not available through the manufacturer's website and Best Buy was not helpful when I tried to get answers about the part. My contractor said the part was just likely not installed by the installer, or it might not have been in the original box. I don't know as I didn't see everything that was in the package when it was installed. I've passed my return date option, otherwise, I'd probably have it removed and find another microwave.
