- Answer Hi Ev76- We have great news! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. QuestionWe are replacing a GE Spacemaker XL JVM1460WA and are considering the JVM3160DFWW. Will the new unit work on the existing wall bracket, use the same three mounting screws holes in the top cabinet and exhaust horizontally threw the top of the bracket.

- Answer I doubt anyone can answer that question on this forum. That being said, We replaced a GE with this new GE and the brackets were different and the holes didn't match up. I'm not sure why they don't make certain things standard.

Over-the-range models must be installed 66" from the floor to the bottom of the cabinet that the microwave attaches to. This can also be measured as 30" from the cooktop to the bottom of the cabinet it attaches to. - Answer Pretty close. I think the 4 indicates the 4th generation of the JVM3160DFWW. The one pictured looks like the one I replaced. The latest model has a few minor cosmetic differences, and the internal dimensions are slightly different. Also, although it fits perfectly in the same location, the back wall mounting bracket and the location of the top mounting bolts and power cord are different...can't just remove the old unit and replace with the new unit without redrilling some holes.

- Answer Hello. This model can have it vented out the top when you need to externally vent outside your home. This is explained how to do this in the installs that comes with this microwave. Be careful when you install it. Geoff@GEA

When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. - Answer I recently bought a stainless steel 1.6 cu ft GE microwave JVM3160RFSS on bestbuy.com (on sale, very good price) and am satisfied with it. It replaced a microwave of the same model that I bought several years ago. Its specs from the Web site are: Product Height 16 1/2 inches Product Width 29 7/8 inches Product Depth 15 1/4 inches I googled your model number (it's 1.7 cu ft, slightly larger internally than mine) and found the following approximate specs, virtually identical to yours Approx. Product Dimensions (WxHxD) (in.) 29 7/8 in x 16 13/32 in x 15 1/4 in Hope that answers your question. Google can find almost anything.
