Asked by robert.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Convenience Cooking Controls - White
- A:Answer JVM3160DFWW - I just bought this model and the exhaust can be either top or rear exit. I replaced a 10 year old Frigidaire unit and the rear exit exhaust matched up without issues. This model did come setup for top exit from the factory, so you have to remove and rotate the exhaust motor and remove 2 metal tabs to accommodate for a rear exit exhaust setup. See Pic

Q: QuestionI am having new cabinets being put in our kitchen. We currently have a microwave on our counter but want to put in an over the oven microwave. In order to correctly vent this do I have to vent it to the outside and cut a hole in my wall ??
Asked by Sandy79.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Convenience Cooking Controls - Bisque
- A:Answer The model we bought is designed for over-stove use, has lights and aluminum grease trap screens on bottom. I read that this microwave has a special attachment that allows one to not have to vent to outside, but I personally prefer not having to change charcoal attachment for that and like outside venting. Check out the Best Buy information further as that might give you better info. They also list the dimensions and have a photo. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionHow big of a burner is this exhaust rated for? Will it handle a 21,000 btu burner?
Asked by Jack.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 1.6 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Microwave with Convenience Cooking Controls - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hi Jack, Most range or cooktop models do not require a ventilation system or have a CFM requirement; however, we recommend checking the local residential codes in your area to see if one is required. All current OTR (over-the-range microwaves), including convection, Advantium ovens, vent hoods, and telescopic downdraft vents can be installed over gas cooking products with combined surface burner BTU rating of approximately 65,000 BTUs or less. As long as the 66" minimum clearance from the floor to the top of the microwave is followed there will be no performance or warranty problem. We hope that this helped! Thank you so much for your question. -Michael
