• A:Answer Hi! Thanks for reaching out. We'd be happy to help. We really think you'll like model PEB7227ANDD. While this model is dark gray, it does have several different finishes for its trim kits that you can choose from. This helps it to blend with the other appliances in your kitchen. The Stainless Steel trim kits can be found by searching for part numbers: JX7227SLSS and JX7230SLSS. The new model can only be built in, it's not recommend to install this unit on a countertop. - However, if you're wanting a countertop model, this one might be what you're looking for: PEM31SFSS. • A:Answer Hello - Thanks for your question; we are happy to help! The vent fan will automatically start when using any cooking cycle on the microwave. As soon as the Start/Pause pad is pressed to begin a cooking cycle, you will hear the vent fan automatically start. The automatic vent fan will operate during the entire cooking cycle. Q: QuestionI need to replace my old GE above range microwave which is 36 inches wide. Is a filler kit available for model JVM6172 DKBB for the 3 inch gaps that will be left between the new microwave and my cabinets? How is the kit ordered?

If the microwave starts as soon as the door is closed, the microwave isn't really starting; the fan is coming on in anticipation of the unit starting. Try shutting the door firmly three times to avoid the fan sound in future use. We hope that this helps! All the best. -Michael

Q: QuestionWhat is the exact height of the mounting bracket? I need to make sure it will fit between the bottom of the existing cabinet and the top of the installed backsplash tile.

• A:Answer Hi Dan, Great question! While we do not have the exact measurements of the mounting bracket, as long as the cutout height is 16-1/2" you will be able to install your unit. We are sorry to hear your GE microwave model JVM1440WD (Dimensions: 16 1/2 H x 29 7/8 W x 14 5/16 D) needs replacing and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. All GE 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide x 12" deep (min.) cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement. Model JVM6172DKWW is a great choice (Dimensions: 16 5/16 H x 29 7/8 W x 15 9/16 D). Q: QuestionWe just purchased a JVM6172dkww and installed it 3 days ago. It buzzes loudly when it's running. How do we know if its defective or not without either calling a GE techician for a $128 service call or un installing it and replacing it?

• A:Answer Hi there, We're terribly sorry to hear your brand new microwave is making a buzzing noise when running. We know that must be extremely upsetting! If your microwave is making arcing, sparking, popping, or other electrical sounds: Using metal or metal-trimmed cooking utensils in the microwave causes arcing in a microwave. The Owner's Manual will offer recommendations on the correct utensils to use. Popping sounds are usually caused by the food item being cooked in the microwave. Food items with a higher fat content will pop and sizzle as they cook. Covering the container will reduce this. Noises can also be heard when cooking foods with tight membranes such as potatoes. Pierce the skin of potatoes before cooking. If the popping noise is electrical or mechanical in sound, we recommend contacting service. Stay well! Mike@GEA
