  • QuestionWhat is the code in North Carolina for the minimum clearance between the Microwave over the smooth top stove? My current microwave is 17" over the smooth top stove.

    • Answer Hi Michael5805 - Per the Installation Guide, over- the- range models must be installed 66" from the floor to the bottom of the cabinet that the microwave attaches to. This can also be measured as 30" from the cooktop to the bottom of the cabinet it attaches to. Each microwave comes with the mounting hardware (mounting bracket, screws, exhaust adapter), top and rear templates, and installation instructions needed to make installation a simple process. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy. Check out our GE® 1.9 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Sensor Microwave Oven JVM7195SKSS. Sensor controls automatically adjusts time and power for delicious cooking results. Also, this model is equipped with our new dark gray, easy-clean porcelain enamel interior with Steam Clean option. The Steam Clean feature (found on select microwave models) generates steam to re-hydrate dried spills/splatters making cleaning easier. To use, simply press the Steam Clean button.
