Hi Anthony, thanks for reaching out! As of January 1994, all GE Appliances branded refrigerators moved from a rotary compressor to a reciprocating compressors. Additionally, none of our refrigerators use linear (inverter) compressors. A reciprocating compressor, also known as a Scotch Yoke compressor, is designed to give years of reliable service. This type of compressor consists of a reciprocating piston operating in a stationary cylinder. - If you're needing the running amps for this unit, that information can be found on the unit's rating plate, the same location as the model and serial numbers. Appliances with compressors (ex. refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers), there is a brief surge of power when the compressor cycles on. This is called the "surge" or "start-up" amps, and is about 2x to 3x the running amps. If you're needing wattage, please use the following equation: volts x amps = watts. We hope that this helps!
