Q: QuestionWhat possible reason did GE hide the display so that we can't see the time countdown? All normal dishwashers have the display visible. What is the advantage to GE's design?

Q: QuestionCan I use this as a garbage disposal? For example, can I throw in some vegetable scraps when I do the dishes? I'm disabled so I can only throw out garbage once a week and I want to get rid of scraps so that they won't attract insects and lions.

Q: QuestionAll my previous dishwashers have a display showing how much time is left as well as the current status. Where can I find this on this machine? I need to know so that I can schedule multiple loads.

• A:Answer Hi there - we checked the information for this unit, and we can confirm that this is a top-control dishwasher. The display is part of this top-control setup that sits at the "top edge" of the door, and it hides below the top of the dishwasher when the door is closed. You can take a look at the pictures on this product page for a visual reference of the display. -- During operation, the display shows the total number of minutes remaining in the cycle. • A:Answer Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us. This model offers our Condensate Dry feature. With this drying system design, condensation will form on cooler surfaces in a warm humid environment. At the end of a cycle, while the dish load is still hot, the stainless steel tub walls are already cooling down and pulling condensation to form on the tub walls instead of the dishes. This provides natural air drying of the dish load. The use of a rinse agent ensures spot and film protection for dishes and assists the drying process. • A:Answer Hi, thanks for asking these questions! We do not recommend removing the countertop, as it is there by design and taking it off could interfere with the dishwasher's performance. As for hoses, this dishwasher comes equipped with a unicouple (you can see all the supplied parts on page 1 of the installation instructions). The unicouple’s small hose carries water from the faucet to the dishwasher and its large hose carries water from the dishwasher to the sink. Just be sure to run garbage disposal prior to use, to clean out the disposer and thus allow water to drain from the sink through the disposer and down the drain. When you're ready to use the portable dishwasher, you'll simply move it close to the sink, hook up the unicouple hose to your sink's faucet adapter, turn on the hot water (checking for leaks), plug in the dishwasher's power cord to an electrical outlet, and choose your wash cycle. More information about connecting and disconnecting the portable dishwasher can be found on page 10 of the owner's manual. We hope this helps! All the best, Kelsey@GEA

So we would not recommend attempting to install this unit permanently under your sink. There is information on page 3 and 4 of your installation instructions about connecting the unit to your sink.
