A:AnswerGreat question! Appliances that provide cooling, such as refrigerators, have a sealed system that use a refrigerant. It is an odorless, tasteless gas. The amount and type of refrigerant (also called coolant or Freon) is listed on the rating plate of the unit. Thanks for asking. -Mikayla@GEA
A:AnswerHi there - These are great questions! The refrigerator and freezer doors can both be removed for easier installation. Check out pages 24 and 25 of the owner's manual for instructions on how to do so: https://files.bbystatic.com/wvsBQaaP7WQH8cGGVgMBDg%3D%3D/235c7797-ee33-48cd-b52c-f48b61b0d8d7.pdf. With the doors removed, the case depth is 28-1/2 inches, so it will fit through a 30-inch door opening. If you need anything else, you know where to find us! All the best, Kelsey@GEA
A:AnswerHey there, we're happy to help. The sides of this refrigerator only require 1/8" of clearance on each side so this unit will fit your space. In addition, the width of the doors when open 90 degrees is 33.25" not including the handle so you should be able to operate this just fine in your space. You'll be able to pull our shelves and bins for cleaning when the doors are open this wide as well. We hope this has been helpful and we're wishing you the best. - Guy@GEA

Thanks for reaching out. We're happy to answer your question. Upon comparing the two models, we've seen that the Energy Star model (GSE) does not have LED lighting while the non Energy Star model (GSS) does have LED lighting. This is the only difference between the two models. We do hope this helps. Best wishes! Mike@GEA
A:AnswerHi George - Thanks for choosing GE Model GSS23GSKSS! We apologize for any confusion. This model is compatible with GE Water Filtration XWF (MWF is used on models manufactured prior to June 2018). Also, the XWFE Filter replaces the XWF Filter and is embedded with Leak-Detecting Sensing Technology. This innovation enables refrigerators to shut down the water valve when a leak is detected at the filter. The size, shape, assembly, and installation of the filter remains unchanged from the previous XWF filter. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We are also happy to help at GEAppliances.com! Sue
A:AnswerHi Tony - Thanks for considering GE Model GSS23GSKSS! The doors and bottom grille can be removed to fit through the narrow entry to your kitchen (29 1/4").
