Q: QuestionIS THE DELI MEAT DRAWER THE LONG ONE THAT GOES ALL THE WAY ACROSS UNDER THE PRODUCE DRAWER?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi - Yes, the full-width deli drawer (under vegetable/fruit drawers) allows party trays and larger items to fit easily and remain at the ideal temperature. This model has the largest capacity in its class* (*Class is defined as French Door Refrigerator model between 951-2,500 price point (MSRP); claim based on manufacturers' stated capacity; leading brands are GE Appliances, Samsung, LG and Whirlpool.) Q: QuestionIce maker has stopped making much ice. Usually have full tray of ice, now it never gets past half tray full. Checked water filter and water dispenser works fine. Ice maker light is on.
Asked by waytrans.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 27 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator
- A:Answer Hi waytrans - We are happy to provide assistance. When the bin fills to the level of the feeler arm, the icemaker will stop producing ice. Be sure nothing interferes with the sweep of the feeler arm. Piled up cubes in the storage bin cause the icemaker to shut off. Level cubes by hand, if necessary. See pages 16 and 39 of the Owner's Manual: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60805-3.PDF - Also, the icemaker must be 15 degrees to produce ice. Normal freezer temperature is around zero degrees F. Ice production can be further increased by decreasing the freezer temperature to -2F. Very little food, or no food, in the refrigerator or freezer sections may slow down the production of ice. More food in the refrigerator allows temperatures to remain more stable. We suggest to view the following troubleshooting link to more tips- REFRIGERATOR - SLOW ICE PRODUCTION: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17763 - We hope these tips are helpful. Q: QuestionI removed the compartment on the inside of the freezer door to clean it. I thought I had put it back in correctly but now the freezer door itself will not close all the way. I also cant get the compartment off. Help!
Asked by CMM19014.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 27.0 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator with Internal Water Dispenser - Slate
- A:Answer Hi CMM19014 - Thanks for reaching out to us. We are happy to help. Lift the door bin straight up; then pull out. If the bin fits tightly or not installed quite right, you may need to give it a little "bump" with the palm of your hand to release it. To replace, insert the bin above the notches on the door liner and then slide the bin down into place. Q: QuestionIf power is interrupted, and later restored, will this unit automatically reset itself, or will it have to be turned on manually?
Asked by 0923.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 27 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator
- A:Answer Hi 0923- Should you experience a power outage or power failure, it is not necessary to unplug the refrigerator. When power is restored and the unit automatically starts, the sudden start will not harm the refrigerator. Electronic models will return to your settings. If there was a short power outage the compressor overload will cycle on and off (not the compressor) until the refrigerant system equalizes at which point the compressor will start and refrigeration will resume. Q: QuestionCan this model be used in an Unheated garage?
Asked by Jan.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 27 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator
- A:Answer Hi Jan - Thanks for considering GE! Refrigerators should not be used in unheated locations, such as garages, porches, or unheated rooms where the temperature is likely to fall below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The refrigerator may not work properly, and there is a possibility that some harm could come to the compressor or sealed system by operating the refrigerator at temperature extremes. Below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the oil could become thick and not circulate properly. Above 110 degrees Fahrenheit, the oil could overheat and break down. Q: QuestionThe refrigerator freezes almost all of the food inside it regardless of which shelf and where inside it is placed. The temperature is at factory setting. Is this normal? I've only had this fridge for 1 1/2 months and it's been doing it from the get go.
Asked by Caligirl.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 27 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator
- A:Answer Hi Caligirl - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE! We are sorry to hear food is freezing in the refrigerator and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If the refrigerator temperature sensor is blocked, it may not be able to correctly sense temperature to control cooling. The temperature sensor is located at the top of the refrigerator, on the ceiling above the top shelf. The sensor looks like a dome with slats. Move items so there is 6 inches of clearance around the sensor. Take a look at the following link for more tips- BOTTOM FREEZER REFRIGERATOR TOO COLD, FREEZING FOOD: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=23002 - A technician may be required for an accurate diagnosis. Q: QuestionI understand a removable water filter is needed to be replaced every 6 months. Can you give me a price on that, and does it need to be ordered on-line, or can it be purchased locally?
Asked by AthensProspectiveBuyer.
This question was asked about the related product: GE - 27 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator
- A:Answer That's too expensive for a filter that needs replacement perhaps every 6 months - about the same or more than it costs for the electricity it takes to run it for a year. This answer should have included the part number and price of the plug needed to replace the filter. It didn't. Get the factory plug to remove the in-fridge filter, then install an external carbon filter (about 10" long x 2") in-line with the water supply. Cost for external filters is maybe $5-$7 on Amazon for a five pack. The capacity of these external filters is greater, probably double or more, than the inside-fridge filter. You can get 1/4" push-in fittings for the water line on xBay or Xmazon. I would recommend putting a shutoff valve in front of the filter.
