Hi dyer- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for considering our GE Series Washer GTW460ASJWW! We are happy to provide assistance. The minimum (Small) water level on this model is approximately 9 gallons. The washer will not compensate for any additional liquid added. Also, check out the matching GE® 7.2 CU. FT. CAPACITY ALUMINIZED ALLOY DRUM ELECTRIC DRYER GTD42EASJWW (GTD42GASJWW GAS) or GE® 6.2 CU. FT. CAPACITY ALUMINIZED ALLOY DRUM ELECTRIC DRYER GTX42EASJWW (GTX42GASJWW GAS). We hope this is helpful!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, you cannot set, or even know, what Quantity of water is used, because, in both High Efficiency (it measures the load, then fills to minimum necessary water level needed to clean), or in Manual mode (User sets "Small/Medium/Large/Super Capacity" Water Level), what the washer is measuring is the LEVEL of the water in the tub, WITH the laundry in it. So, depending on the bulk of the clothes loaded in the tub, for example, a "Medium" Water Level setting could have different QUANTITIES of water for different bulk loads of clothing.
