Hi Elaine - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your GE washer. We are happy to provide assistance. If you choose Precise Fill option, the washer fills with a little water and spins/pauses to sense the washer load to determine the amount of water necessary for the load before the cycle begins. Also, we suggest to view the following link WASHERS - CONSUMER HELP INDICATOR: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=35949 - If the washer will not continue through the cycle and displays messages different than listed in the link above, reset the electronics by unplugging, wait 2 minutes, plug back in and press Start. For reference, see page 24 of the Owner's Manual: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90576-3.pdf - If your washer senses a power spike, unbalanced load, or disruption in power it will send a fault code to your motor and may require the motor to be reset. View instructions and video at this link- TOP LOAD WASHER - HYDROWAVE MOTOR RESET: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17391 - For service, please schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service at GEAppliances.com: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm?ICID=GEARsupportflyout-service - We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch! Sue
