  • QuestionIf I want to soak a load of clothes for an hour, how do I fill the machine and let it sit with the lid open without having it drain?

    Asked by deb914.

    • Answer If you wish to soak your clothes during the wash cycle, then select one of these cycles which incorporate a soak period: whites, delicates, and sanitize with Oxi. There is not an option for an hour soak. The Deep Rinse Cycle can soak for 15 minutes. Once the washer fills for the deep rinse cycle, immediately upon that agitation period starting, press the pause leaving the lid shut. Wait 15 minutes, then unpause the washer and the unit will complete the balance of the rinse agitate and proceed to drain and spin as normal.

  • QuestionCan this machine be hooked to a sink to fill?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer We would not recommend connecting this unit to a sink for use. This would significantly affect the fill rate and water temperature of the cycle. The unit will also drain at 15 to 17 gallons per minute. We suggest viewing our selection of portable washers that are easily installed with a sink. John@GEAppliances

  • QuestionGTW385ASWWS How long is the wash portion of the normal cycle? How long is the rinse portion of the normal cycle WITHOUT deep rinse? WITHOUT deep rinse does it fill the tub or only spin, spray and rinse?

    Asked by LLG.

    • Answer The "wash" portion of the cycle is approximately 13 minutes long. The default rinse for this model is our Water Saver Spray Rinse. At the end of the wash cycle, the washer pumps out all of the water. The washer retains only the water in the clothes, it does not spin, but fills again with approximately 11 gallons of water. It will agitate for 10 seconds and then soak for 2 1/2- 3 minutes. The unit will then drain and spin. -Vikki@GEAppliances

  • Questiongtw385aswws - is there a lent trap that needs to be cleaned, if so, where is it? Is there a chart that lists the cycles how long function within a cycle (wash, rinse, spin) takes? Trying to time when to add Lysol laundry sanitizer (& stop cycle to soak)

    Asked by LLG.

    • Answer There isn't a lint trap that requires cleaning on your part. While there is no timing chart available, we do have recommendations on using sanitizer in the rinse cycle: Before starting the wash cycle, select the Deep Rinse option. • After the washer performs the wash phase and completes the “wash spin” (spin that occurs between the wash and spin phases), you will hear the water filling for rinse. • Once the water completes filling for rinse, you will hear it start to agitate again (the “rinse agitate” period). Immediately upon that agitation period starting, lift the lid and add the manufacturer’s recommended amount of Lysol Sanitizer to the rinse water. • Shut the lid and allow the washer to agitate for 1-2 minutes only, then press Start/Pause button one time leaving the lid shut. Note: the entire rinse agitate period is only 3 minutes, so be sure to pause the washer before the rinse agitate period completes. • Wait 15 minutes with the washer paused, again leaving the lid shut. • After the 15-minute pause period has elapsed, press the Start/Pause button one time to restart the washer. The unit will complete the balance of the 3 minutes of rinse agitate and then proceed to drain & spin as normal. -Vikki@GEAppliances

  • QuestionGTW385ASWWS. How long is the rinse portion of the normal cycle. Askimg because I was waiting for machine to go to rinse to add Lysol sanitizer seems like minutes later i washing it was draining and Iin spin, no time to add Lysol sanitizer.

    Asked by LLG.

    • Answer Here are our recommendations for using this type of additive to the rinse cycle: • Before starting the wash cycle, select the Deep Rinse option.

  • QuestionIs this washer High efficiency? And if it is, can I please have the Models that are NOT HE. Thank you

    Asked by Yello.

    • Answer The GTW385 is considered high-efficiency. All of our washers use significantly less water than models of the past and we recommend using JE detergents in all of our washers. We recommend checking the features for these models - GTW325ASWWW, GTW220ACWWW, GTW480ASWWB. While we recommend HE detergent, they are not specifically listed as high-efficiency models. - Vikki@GEAppliances

  • QuestionWhere is drain filter located

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Our current top load washer models, like this one, no longer contain a filter. The Fine Mesh filters were removed from under the agitator when it was found that a better pump and larger holes in the hub under the agitator did a better job of removing lint and preventing clogs in the drain system. The drain system allows water to flow through the basket and out the bottom of the tub pulling lint, hair and small particles with the water. There is no maintenance required on this system, so there is not a way to access the pump for cleaning or maintenance. - Julia@GEAppliances
