A:AnswerHi Dave - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE! When Auto Soak is selected the washer fills to the level selected (Low, Medium, High, Max, Precise Fill). Also, a metal clanking or clicking noise when the unit is going from agitate to spin is the mode shifter shifting from agitate to spin. When the machine is transitioning from agitate to spin, the gears that interlock the agitator and basket are engaging, so the basket and agitator will spin together. You will also heat a metallic click at the beginning of the cycle, the lid will lock, creating a clicking noise. The basket will then spin up and coast down several times to sense the load size. You will hear the click several times as the lock engages and disengages. A:AnswerHi Nobbo - Thanks for your interest! The washer is not self-cleaning. Leave the lid open after washing to allow moisture to evaporate. It is possible for odor, soil, or detergent build up to occur inside the washer tub over time. Using the proper detergent and appropriate amount of detergent can help. GE Appliances recommends cleaning the washer tub once per month to keep the wash basket fresh and clean. This will also help with mold or mildew odors. To clean and get rid of odors inside of the washer, Use Tide Washing Machine Cleaner, or similar product, and follow the directions on the package. A:AnswerI washed my king size quilt in it (and it's very thick). Although it seemed like a tight fit, the machine washed it very well. I have also put two queen size sheet sets in together along with a twin set, and all came out clean. Same with loads of towels and loads of jeans. This machine washes better than my old Maytag (and the Kenmore I had before that). Two of my adult children have "borrowed" it to do their laundry. The only complaint was from my daughter who is short. She had trouble reaching to the bottom to get the clothes out to place in the dryer!
