• A:Answer Hi - Thanks for viewing our GE Gas Ranges! Model JGBS30DEKWW has an electronic ignition system. The automatic pilotless ignition (also called automatic electric or automatic electronic ignition) saves energy by eliminating the task of lighting the burners. It also saves money by using 30% less gas than a standing pilot range. Because this system has no standing pilot light, no gas is being used unless it is needed. With the spark ignitor system, electricity simply sparks when control is turned to the LITE position. Gas is simultaneously released and ignites when it comes in contact with the spark. Should there be a power failure, the oven will not function but the burners may be lit with a match. Simply hold the match near the burner, turn the control to LITE. Exercise extreme caution when lighting the burners in this manner. The cooktop surface is cool to the touch when not in use because there is no pilot light burning continuously. The glow bar in the oven will cycle on and off with the oven temperature. We do not offer a model with a standing pilot. Also, check out our Hotpoint range model RGB518PCHWH with Cordless Ignition. A 9 volt battery supplies the power to the electronic igniters. Depending on the use of the range the battery is estimated to last 3 years. • A:Answer We appreciate you considering GE Appliances. I am happy to help. This model comes from the factory set for natural gas. A conversion kit is included to convert to LP. GE Appliances recommends a qualified installer or servicer convert the gas range, oven, or cooktop to the proper gas supply needed. The conversion must be in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and all codes and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction. The conversion instructions are located in the wiring diagram (mini-manual) or included with the LP kit attached to the appliance near the pressure regulator. I hope this helps. • A:Answer Hi - Model JGBS30DEKWW is not equipped with a clock/timer. Models with no clock or timer do not have automatic shutdown. Most ovens and ranges with touch pad clock controls will automatically shut off after 12 hours. The benefit of this is the peace-of-mind and energy savings if the oven is accidentally left on. • A:Answer Hi JuliusL - The range has an electronic ignition, therefore, requires 120V/15A. The automatic pilotless ignition eliminates the need to light the burners. With the spark igniter system, electricity simply sparks when the control is turned to the LITE position. Gas is simultaneously released and ignites when it comes in contact with the spark. Exercise extreme caution when lighting the burners in this manner. The glo-bar in the oven will cycle on and off with the oven temperature. When it cycles on to heat, the gas valve opens and the gas is ignited. When the oven is at temperature, the gas valve closes there are no longer flames. Q: QuestionAre there different burner tops available? The ones that came with the stove are very lightweight and don't stay in place. Also they're very slippery, pans slide far too easily.
