Q: QuestionI will be housing a countertop microwave on a cabinet shelf next to a GE double oven model JK3500DFWW 27" double oven. Does this microwave GE PEM31DFWW or GE PES7227DLWW match the oven white color? And which window screen is the same as oven? Thank you!

Q: QuestionDoes the light inside the microwave turn on when you open the door or only when it is in use? Is there any backlighting to the control panel other than the clock ?

• A:Answer I have the same reaction as you do. Mine don't light up either and it is impossible to see the buttons in a dim light. What a disappointment. I would have returned it except we have custom cabinets in the kitchen and this was supposed to be a direct replacement for the older model. However, the overall size is different by 1/4 inch and the screw holes for hanging are a different pattern, requiring new drill holes in the cabinet. Overall, the unit feels cheap, is much more expensive than others and I am less than impressed by it (including the non-light issue). Wish I could have had better news.......

• A:Answer I have exactly the same cut out cabinet snd exactly that’s model JEM25. Mine is a white one, and the rotating plate inside measures 11 1/4. It’s perfect but the top inside of the microwave is flaking and I heard I have to replace it. However I can only find lower wattage microwaves in black and I love my white higher wattage one!!!!

I don't know where your 18 inches came from : This shallow microwave is only about 13.5 inches front to back, including the plug, which I have plugged into a standard receptacle on the wall at the back of the cabinet. I am NOT using the "trim kit" so cannot comment on that, but this thing fits my 13 inch deep cabinet shelf and only sticks out a half inch.

• A:Answer Hi GAILM- If installed in a cabinet, it is compatible with GE® Optional 27" Built-In Trim Kit JX827SFSS and Optional 30" Built-In Trim Kit JX830SFSS. 18" Minimum cabinet depth with receptacle in cabinet; 16" minimum cabinet depth with receptacle outside cabinet. We suggest to view the Quick Specs for cabinet cutout dimensions: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=PEM31SF_EF_BM_FM_R2_17.pdf - If it is placed on the counter, be certain to place the front surface of the door 3 inches or more back from the counter top edge to avoid accidental tipping of the appliance in normal usage.
