Unfortunately, our over-the-range microwaves do require a rear wall to mount to. We have undercabinet kits that can be used to mount a microwave; however, this would involve mounting a countertop unit, which is not approved for use over a range or cooktop. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. One alternate option is using an undercabinet range hood for venting your range, and having a separate microwave for the counter. If you wanted to consider this, PVX7300FJDS is one example of our range hoods, and PEM31FMDS is a countertop microwave that has optional kits for either hanging under a cabinet, or creating a built-in look.
