QuestionTO HONEYWELL:: WHERE exactly is the VOC sensor on the 5300B? Exact location is not depicted in the User Manual. There's only an arrow vaguely pointing to the inside, right side of the unit. Same UM makes no mention anywhere of VOC sensor maintance.

- Answer If Honeywell is referring to the small, sculpted divit near the right front corner of the removable front grille, there is no marking/label for the sensor on my unit. I'm confirming this before I add my own p-touch label.

QuestionElderly in-laws have moved in to live with us. Trying to avoid the “nursing home” smell in their room. Have purchased the hpa5300 air purifier. Which S filter would be the correct one to use - the cooking one, the pet one or the VOC one?

- Answer You will need 3x SP1 (Pet) S filters for dander/dead skin & body odors. SP1 sits directly on top of each of the already inserted R/HEPA filters in a 5300B. SP1 are activated charcoal, treated w/ anti-microbial, hypoallergenic zeolite. This is the same material in AP1 & APP1 pte-filters. APP1 is thicker than AP1. Adding the HPF-SP1 layer increases the amount of odor (and VOC) absorbing carbon before final HEPA filtration. Be aware, the VOC AQ sensor on the 5300B does not detect particulates & will not regulate Auto mode for changing particulate/musk levels. To clear musk/airborne dander, run the 5300B in Turbo mode until you are satisfied, then select the manual mode (Germ, standard, Allergen) that maintains the AQ that Turbo achieved.

- Answer Thank you for your inquiry. This unit will remove particulates from the air, and the Carbon pre-filter will remove some Odors and VOCs from the air. However, if you are looking to remove odors from the air, we would advise using one of the optional S pre-filters, as they are made to specifically remove Odors and VOCs from the air.
