- Answer Once you switch out of Windows S mode (which is easy--just google "switching out of Windows S mode" and follow the instructions), you can download and use Chrome, surf the internet, and watch Netflix.

- Answer Thank you for the question. S mode is a version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 that's streamlined for security and performance, while providing a familiar Windows experience. To increase security, it allows only apps from the Microsoft Store, and requires Microsoft Edge for safe browsing. Apps and programs work the same as non-S Mode. You can switch out of S Mode (free, easy, not reversible) for the typical Home version of Windows, if you'd like.

- Answer Hi Kerry, thank you for the question. Windows 11 S Mode is a more secure version of Windows 11 - only the Edge Browser is used, and downloading of applications is only done through the Microsoft Store. If you prefer Windows 11 Home, you can convert the laptop (free, easy, not reversible) for more flexibility including the use of your preferred browser.

- Answer Thank you for the question. The HP 15-ef1023dx has one slot occupied by 8GB DDR4 RAM. Technically you could upgrade, however, it should be performed by a qualified technician, as the specification indicates that the slot is not user accessible.

- Answer Unfortunately, it doesn't have an additional slot for a second NVMe m.2 drive and there isn't a a slot for a conventional SSD.

- Answer This laptop, like most laptops these days, does not have a built-in DVD player. However, Best Buy sells an external LG DVD player for $24.99 (and offers 20% off if you buy it with this laptop). I bought the LG DVD player, and it works well with my similar laptop. With the external DVD player attached to your laptop via a USB port, you can play DVD's.

- Answer Yes, it can be swapped out. It's fairly serious computer surgery (several components may need to be removed to get to the SSD), so your best option would be to have someone like the Geek Squad at your local Best Buy do the work. They'll be able to quote you a price for the new drive as well as the labor to do the work.
