Questiondoes this laptop have a camera

- Answer Front facing fixed web cam, Windows device driver calls it the "HP TrueVision HD" camera. Nothing special but it would work fine for Skype-type web video conferencing. There is no rear facing camera.

- Answer You can swap out the factory HDD for a SATA 3 SSD in 7mm size but it takes significant work. There are 14 screws that must be removed from underside (2 hidden under rubber feet, 2 under stickers), disconnect 3 ribbon cables to lift off the keyboard cover, disconnect the battery connector to the motherboard, and then you can remove 3 screws and ribbon cable that mounts the HDD in place. Once you've swapped out the HDD for the SSD in the storage drive bracket, you can reassemble in reverse order. This should only be attempted by highly technical folks that have numerous PC/laptop builds/repairs within their experience in my opinion. fyi - I'm personally a highly technical IT engineer with 20+ years in the PC support industry that owns this particular model.

- Answer As with almost all laptops today there is no Disk player at all with the machine. You have to purchase an external disk drive to play/write any disk.

- Answer Much of the weight of this laptop appears to be in the construction of the hinges. They seem very sturdy, and I have not had any problem with them. If there was an issue, perhaps HP has addressed this concern.

- Answer I don't know if there is a particular recommendation, but I bought an LG SP60 Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer from Best Buy. This was available at a reasonable price, it is a brand that I trust, and meets my needs as I am not a "heavy" DVD or CD-ROM user. I will be able to burn CDs if I need to, but I will not need to burn large quantities. Seems to be just right for the occasional user.

- Answer I would say just be smart on what surfaces you place your keyboard on. Make sure it's flat and that there is no food on the surface. I haven't had any problems with it. I can't foresee any problems if you do this.

- Answer I am sorry, but I am not a gamer, so I cannot give you a definitive answer. This laptop does have an i7 processor in it, so I would think this processor would be powerful enough. I'm afraid I don't know what kind of video card or other special features a gaming computer needs.

- Answer yes...you can run by the battery....recharge the battery from the wall outlet...or you can just leave it plugged in and use it.
