- Answer AMD (American Micro Devices) is a manufacturer of CPUs and Video. AMD is a brand. Pentium is a specific line of processors manufactured by Intel. Think of it this way... AMD is like Ford Pentium is like Chevy Trucks

QuestionReading a review (rant) about a review "disgusted that there is no word"I'm confused about what this buyer means??? I have a 3-install MS Office Home & Student. Wouldn't installing this enable me to transfer all my documents from the old HP? This buyer went on to say they lost articles, journals, etc. and can only get something "similar" to Word by paying $10 month. Is MS Office subscription only??? Also, they're having trouble connecting to a printer. I want to purchase an HP Pavilion 8GB/1TB, but perhaps I should look at something else??? Thanks for your comments!!

- Answer I don't think they "lost" anything. I believe they just cannot open the old files, or they weren't transferable to the new box. Yes, this computer DOES NOT have Microsoft Office pre-installed - few do. Yu should look before you buy! If they already have an older Office Disc, they could re-install, or I believe there is a way for them to contact Microsoft if they purchased "Office" on-line. The "software Lease" is something Microsoft offers now - it pops up when you try to purchase on-line. I went ahead and did it because it's cheaper in the long run for me, as I use a Pro-series Office. Hope this helps.

- Answer I wouldn't recommend it, all GPU aspects of this computer are minimal.

- Answer Yes, it can be placed on its left hand side (looking at it from the front). The optical drive would actually be easier to access as a "top loader" than from the side. Just be careful to support the drive tray from the bottom with your hand when loading discs, as it is flimsy and wouldn't take much downward force. Also, the motherboard may collect more dust as it will be horizontal (instead of vertical). Cleaning the motherboard and CPU fan may be required more often with canned air. The main HDD should operate properly as it would if removed and put in an external drive enclosure. CAUTION: DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING ON TOP OF THE COMPUTER WHEN PLACED HORIZONTALLY AS THE MAIN COOLING INTAKE VENT WOULD BE ON TOP AND NEEDS TO BE UNCOVERED FOR PROPER COOLING! I have not tried placing the HP Pavilion 550-a14 on its side, but these are the only issues I can imagine. Should be OK.

QuestionDoes this model (HP 550-a14) have a HDMI port?Does this model "HP 550-a14" have a HDMI port. The picture at Bestbuy.com site shows it to have HDMI plug on the back, However "Specifications" at HP.com support site shows it to be a DVI-D port INSTEAD of HDMI (picture from their site enclosed). - Answer none, do not expect to upgrade this PC, what you have is what you get, there is no internal power source so upgrades are pretty much out of the question.

- Answer NO. There is no place to put it since the motherboard has no expansion slots. NONE. If the integrated video circuit shoots craps, you either have to replace the entire motherboard/CPU combo, or throw it away and buy a new computer, the latter being the most cost effective in the long run. Same goes for a bad CPU, and/or a bad sound circuit. You can see the motherboard/CPU combo and get the specs here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04700756 This model is basically designed to be a disposable computer. If you're thinking of buying one, think again. If you bought one and you're within the return/exchange deadline, pack it up and take it back. Suggest you exchange it for a Lenovo...

- Answer The processors are manufactured by different companies. They are naming schemes for the processors. Processors in each class vary greatly in features and cannot be compared without two specific models.
