Yes, you can. Remove the screws from the bottom, including the two hidden under the rear feet, the bottom lid snaps off around the stainless steel surface. Inside you will see the foil wrapped HDD, it's a Toshiba 5400rpm SATA II drive, 7.0mm profile. A standard thickness 2.5" drive won't quite fit, so make sure your SSD is 7.0mm profile as well. Carefully remove the battery, and then the screws holding the HDD in place. Remove the cable connector from the board first, not the drive. Then swap away! Installation is reverse of this. Board is SATA III, so make sure you don't but a SATA II SSD, or you'll not get the best performance for your $$.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. I installed a SSD in mine and it made a huge difference. It requires removing a lot of screws and carefully popping off the bottom of the laptop but it isn't all that difficult. The service manual with instructions is on HP's web site.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No idea regarding the size, but a solid state always makes the day a little brighter. There are different types of solid state drives which makes it easy to confuse, also the physical size of the bay will determine what size you can get, so search around and if weary, open it up and measure it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can, and in fact I highly recommend it. What you lose in storage space you’ll more than gain back in performance, and you likely won’t miss the storage space. For even more space, get an SD card. Plus its quite easy to install, if you’re handy. Just go slow.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Upgrading to a Solid State drive is neither an option offered by Best Buy nor on the HP site for this machine. If you do....you're on your own. Bye bye warranty!
