I have not noticed a heat level that I would call uncomfortable since purchasing this a month ago. And that heat is primarily centered above the key for turning on the keyboard's backlighting. You might check out some of the video reviews on YouTube that measure the heat with a thermometer. It's possible that what you're experiencing isn't normal and should be returned while you're still in your return window.

Neither of them gets what I should consider to be hot enough to worry about. As long as there is good airflow, you should not have a problem Make sure that air can circulate underneath the unit as well...there are also two speakers on the underside and if you place the unit on a soft surface such as a bed, air cannot circulate underneath and the bottom firing speakers will be blocked.
