The 2017 model still has this issue. I'm running Windows 10 Insider preview 15061. I've been testing settings and the one settings that minimize the overheating the most is to go into the NVidia GeForce Control Panel and switch the defaults from "Auto select" to "High performance NVidia processor. Other than the overheating, this laptop has a quick boot-up, quick response time, awesome graphics and touch. I would still buy this laptop knowing it has an overheating issue that for me seems to be based on graphic settings.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My Spectre x360- 15 stays very cool during usual business tasks. Fans go on with activities requiring intensive CPU use, such as games with graphics, video editing, using MS Maps, etc. Even though the fans are on, I don't find them particularly loud or intrusive. Even when I have tried to stress the CPU as much as I can, the keyboard has not gotten warm, and there has been no observable throttling from overheating.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends on what you are doing. I have watched 5 hours of netflix with it on my lap, and it never even felt warm to the touch, (i did set it to throttle cpu with power saver). That said, for more processor intensive tasks it can get a bit hot.
