“It seems these are shipping with multiple setups with regard to combinations of SSDs and RAM. There's both Samsung and Toshiba SSDs as well as 2400 vs 2667 RAM by either Samsung or Kingston. What combinations have you guys seen?”

• Regarding the SSD, my first device (all 8th gen models) had a Samsung SSD, the second had a Toshiba and with the third I got lucky again and got a Samsung. I had to return them several times, because of hardware/software issues and misalignment. So they indeed come with different SSDs (despite same model number). It seems that there is no way to tell from the serial number with which SSD it comes (according to Geek Squad Staff Member)
