A:Answerwhy not ask your store,
Like me I never buy new computers on the net ever, (but do buy them used in bulk there)
find a store and talk to them , nobody here can speak for all store, in real time. inventories can change in 1 second flat. (a reality thing)
A:AnswerI don't have exactly this model. Mine has 16 GB. I have a lot of sync programs running like GDrive and OneDrive. Fan will kick-in often if those are syncing but if it's too loud I stop the sync. I imagine it would kick in more often with less RAM.
A:Answergreat question
i will for you. ok.
this one is 4 , 8gb the other is 16GB,
most users have no use for 16GB. (unless doing high graphic rendering, or video editing, ) it no top gaming system by a mile. so not gaming.
many sites, say the memory chips do not remove, (soldered down)
some say yes, then say, new motherboard. at $500
the magic HP at word is ONBOARD<. this means in hp jargon, NO SOCKETS ON BOARD.
the service ,manual is missing now, if true that ends my business with HP .
heck even that is needed to dig out the battery then a p/n. missing too.
sigh.
A:AnswerAll laptops are fragile, (fix them for a living and learn that)
these new ones are 10x more fragile. so what is new there, it's more thin and weaker.
you can't drop it,nor drop things on it or twist (warp) the case, or it will fail !
no spilled liquids into or on it.
THIS LT, costs 5 times more than a normal rugged laptop. (get Chrome book) or My HP 8540w elite books are all super strong, (costs used $150)
but what do you get for that, you get, 2 things, thin and light.
Thin and light are expensive. just look at it, see that value, and the CNC milled case, not cheap that.
I don't see value here ,but many do. find this compelling but at what cost ?(strength)
I see folks buying so called refurbished, why buy someone else, damage. (then complain here) or buy used from an auction then complain here.
Try to know that the I5 will not overheat, like the i7.
and to know that if you run a heavy load on the processor, it will kick on the fan, just like all laptops do. (ALL)
Try to not expect all old programs to run on windows, 10 , many do NOT, (my PSP7 does not)
I can list way more progs, that fail under w10. no need to ,its fully known and recorded.
Do not blame HP for Microsoft problems. that would not be fair.
I see folks complaining about the battery, and failed to read the manual
The battery can be setup for longest life span or set up for longest run time, never can it be both, (physics) The manual shows you how to chose the mode best for you..
Lost my data, HP nor anyone else is responsible for you not backing up.
My camera, holds 1000s of photos, so its 2 places there and the HP, (if I put them there) and on a memory stick if serious, .
same with business use, are you running a business with just one laptop, its doomed fail, as no computer made is 100% reliable. they all fail , expect it.
Keep you data in the cloud if doing it your self is too much trouble.
I just bought one if these for my son, I hate it but he wants "cute thin weak laptop (notebook 2-in-1):" so he now has it. (I get to fix it when it breaks, )
Please stop reading rumors and then think screens just crack sitting there, safe and sound, they do not, if home is heated. there is upper and lower spec. on temp if you read the manual.
Yes, there are problems, with all computers, maybe 1/2 are owner caused. (a fact or just pure ignorance of facts)
The factory warranty is 1 year, use it and be sure to stay backed up , as all computers do fail. It is your job to backup.
Also know that HP competitors post false info here to steer you to their products, a kinda reverse shilling,,, oldest trick in the book and very internet like.
I'm a retire tech.
Now my recommendations. buy 2, $500 laptops HERE AT BESTBUY and when ones in the shop then the other one is ok. amazing no?
this is what all serious computer users do or with camera's , have 2, or 3, and not worry, or cry when the high technology goes South. as they ALL DO.
or get infected,.
