A:AnswerI bought both the lubricating sheets and the oil. I use the sheets two times and third time I use the oil. It keeps the machine operating effectively. I use sheets after I fill each hopper.
A:AnswerThe auto mode does seem to stay on for a certain amount of time and then it does shut down automatically by default. I’m just not sure how long of a timeframe that is? It probably does it just to turn the machine down when not being used but I could be wrong it doesn’t cause any problems with the functionality. You can just turn the function back on when you’re ready to shred again.
A:AnswerAre you shredding the paper in a CD slot or into the main slot where the insignia sign is? It’s pretty quiet in general but if you’re shredding 10 papers or more, it could sound louder. Or if something is thicker paper with staples? Also, this is a micro shredder so that could cause it to be loud because it needs to shred up in a more finer way than those cheaper shredders. Have you tried to check your blades when they aren’t cleaned or oiled well it may need to be lubricantef.
A:AnswerSmell most likely from material used for manufacturing it. Sometimes a new motor may have a smell from lubricates used for storing. Mine went away after a few uses.
A:AnswerFor my Insignia 10-paper Micro-cut shredder
~65db running without shredding
~77db shredding 1 8x10” paper folded
~66.3db using the Fwd button
~70.2db using the Rev button
A:AnswerThe paper bits stick together pretty well so if you pullout the bin, place a small garbage bag over it, quickly flip it over, and let it all transfer, you'll be fine and no mess. I live in Arizona, too.
