• It will accept Standard definition signal from a cable box over coax or yellow/white/red Composite cord. For any High Definition signal you would need to use a better quality connection like Component or HDMI.

• It does not require an HDMI cable. I'm not using a box, but I have it plugged in directly to a coax cable.
