QuestionCan I connect the usb for my wireless keyboard and the (separate) usb for my wireless mouse to it and then use the other two ports for thumb drives? If not could I plug one in and then use the other 3 for thumb drives?

QuestionMy mouse and keyboard work with it, but if I plug in a harddrive (works normally), everything else disconnects and reconnects several times, but the harddrive never fully connects and Windows says it is an unrecognized device. Any tips?

- Answer Hard drives may draw too much power for this unit. they should be plugged into a direct port or into a Powered USB Hub

- Answer If your external hard drive power requirement is 5vdc @ 900mA and the USB 3.0 Travel Hub provides 5vdc at 500mA/port you will have issues to include damage to your external hard drive due to inadequate power. You have two requirements for electronic devices. Voltage and power. The hub provides the correct DC voltage for USB devices but the power is not enough to safely drive your external drive. You will need a powered hub that provides at least 900 mA to make this work. Below is an example of a powered USB hub. - Answer The power supply is what it pulls from your items that are plugged in. Since my mac mini is already plugged in, that is its source of power. Since my mac mini is limited in its ports, I plug it to my mac mini and then plug in my monitor/display, mouse, microphone, camera in the hub. It also has a headphone jack.

- Answer I ended up getting the powered one from insignia. However with this setup even without plugging in the power it seems to work OK. What USB slot in the computer you plug into might be a factor.
