QuestionI recently picked this up so I could switch my peripherals between my PC and work laptop (2021 macbook pro m1). It works flawlessly on my PC but the macbook for whatever reason isn't picking it up. what can I do to fix this?

- Answer Nope, it is not possible to use the USB C port for a host connection. It is only used for extra power for the hub.

QuestionThis doesn't work at all. Plugged in 3 external hard drives & only 1 appeared on the desktop. Tried it on both iMac and MacBook Pro. What am I missing? Does it need to be plugged into power to work properly? If so why isn't the cord included?

- Answer On the back of the hub, there is a USB-C port that says 5V DC that you can attempt to power the hub with. Hard drives are typically more power hungry than mice and keyboards. You're better off plugging peripherals into the hub and hard drives directly into the computer to get best read and write speeds and have each hard drive properly powered. Maybe consider getting an externally powered large storage eHD or RAID set up for consolidation.

QuestionCan I use this product to connect four laptops to one HDMI monitor?

- Answer I don't think so. This device has 4 USB inputs and 2 USB outputs. It has no HDMI ports. The purpose is to share up to 4 USB devices between two computers. On a side note, I am not happy with my device. It does not always function as expected. For example, I cannot use it with my Yeti Blue microphone without signal clipping.

- Answer No, but it can work with any USB-C power supply. Most people have spare ones lying around. However, you don't really need it, as long as no hi-power devices are being used with it (like mechanical hard drives or charging devices). For things like flash drives, mice, and keyboards, you really don't need much power.

QuestionWhen my laptop is turned off and is not plugged in to the wall, will a device that I have plugged into the hub (such as my USB speaker) still turn on if I turn the speaker to on? Because that's what happens with my Insignia USB 3.0 hub that costs $39.99.

QuestionSo I bought this not knowing it does not ship with the 5v power supply. Supposedly it can be used without the power supply but mine is completely dead. Can this unit be used without the 5v supply or did I just get a broken one?

- Answer You do NOT need a power supply. As long as you only plug low-power devices into it (mice, keyboards, flash drives, and other powered USB hubs) it works great. But it also has a USB-C input for power, so you can use any power supply that you have lying around.
