I don't keep mine on full amount, I turn the dial to half. I also recommend that if you're storing meat that when you buy it from a store to repack it. I take mine out of the store packaging because the thin wrap they use is only for a temporary cover not meant for long storage. I should suggest using a vacuum sealer with vacuum sealer bags to repack the meat. This will allow the meat to stay longer with less chance of freezer burn. Hope this helps.
