The formatting -of-type, is the most basic reason, with B.R.s -although more 'delicate', in structure, being able, to hold more content,; whereas, DVDs, can 'take' more physical-stress, to its 'form'(the disc-itself). Like the difference, between a 'tension-bridge', and an ancient viaduct-arch, as you'll see in parts of Rome, Italy. (e.g., I have played-ONLY when they are made of the best materials, cracked DVDs; one could NEVER do that, with a cracked B.R.disc!!
