QuestionWe need to replace our KitchenAide over the range microwave. It was installed when we built the house in 2003. It needs to vent the gas stove below it. Does this KitchenAide model have the strong venting needed for a gas stove?

QuestionI purchased this unit 4 years age and when you open the door the light won't come on. It says to open and close door but nothing happens. Obviously this has to do with the door activation switch. Has this been improved?

QuestionHow does the recirculating option work?

- Answer Hello KarenB, The recirculating option takes the steam and smoke from the cooking surface below and filters it through the grease and charcoal filters and pushes it back into the home from the top front of the unit. We hope this helps.

QuestionFor the price of the unit it should have a backlit keypad. Poor engineering as you have difficulty making out the numbers in a dimly lit room. Kitchen Aid engineers should have been more aware of the poor visibility of the numbers without backlighting.

- Answer You could do a search online for this particular model and actually get the template to drill and cut the correct holes in the bottom of the cabinet where the microwave is to be installed. I'm going to assume the vent would be in the back-center of the microwave.

QuestionWhat is the noise level of the venting fan. My old hood was so loud that I didn't use it much.

- Answer On high it is fairly loud however you do have four speeds high, medium high, medium and low. On low it's very quiet in comparison to our previous microwave that only had two speeds. Also keep in mind that air flow is noisier at higher volumes. It's not really the fan making the noise it's the air flow. If your fan was making a lot of noise chances are the fan needed repair or lubrication or something like that.
