• We just saw this model (and bought it) this evening. It is Black Stainless with a smudge proof finish. Unlike regular stainless, you CAN put magnets on it (we tested it.)

• I just purchased the black stainless steel Kitchenaid frenh door counter depth model, and it is black stainless steel. But you need to be very careful with it. The black stainless is like a paint coating and is thin, and if not careful will scratch easily. They scratched one of the doors on mine during delivery and then had to replace it. But they did it with no problems. I love the frig and would buy again, but we are older and have no children or grandchildren. It is pretty safe here.
