QuestionDoes this dishwasher have a hard food disposal?Does this dishwasher have a hard food disposal? It says it has a filtration system is this in lieu of a hard food disposal system ?

- Answer I believe it has a grinder not a disposal. Do not think you can get a disposal in any dishwasher anymore. Both come with a filter that needs to be cleaned on a regular basis.

QuestionWhat if height not fit in under my counter top?I've purchased a KitchenAid Dishwasher today, a delivery & installation not until next two weeks, however, I just checked a measure height is 34.5" is .5" taller than my old dishwasher and a counter. What do you think? Do I have to go back store return and look for another dishwasher under 34" height or the install technician can figure out how to get it to fit under a counter? Please, let me know your answer soon what to do with this purchase. I believe all KitchenAid Dishwasher is 34.5" height. Thank you!

QuestionHow long does the dishwasher last before it breaks down ?My last dishwasher lasted 15 years. My current one started having problems in its 13th month - it cannot handle water ! It was the top rated dishwasher - but they do not test them 18 months after they have been in use.

- Answer My unit broke within the first year and it took several repair attempts for it to work but now just months later the problem is back and will have to start the repair cycle again. Problem is error code i20 and the unit just quits washing leaving dishes soapy and wet.

QuestionWhen using the dishwasher only 2x a week, does it have a smell?We now Have a Bosch dishwasher. We only run it 2x a week. When you open the door, it has a strong smell.. I was told we need to run it a lot more. I had a KitchenAid dishwasher for 15 years and ran it maybe 2x a week and no smell. Just checking to see if the new KitchenAid dishwasher would be the same?????

- Answer YES, it's because it's a non-vented washer. Many are these days apparently. And using it every day helps "clean it out " from what i see and have heard. Ours smells after a day off. IF you're stuck with it, try putting a small glass of vinegar in the tray Upright so the vinegar gets splashed out slowly and helps sanitize it. I tried that and it seems to help a bit, and white vinegar is cheap at least. The filter smells even with a tiny bit of stuff in it too I think.

QuestionCan you cancel the dish washing cycle at any point since the operating buttons are on the top edge of the door? Doesn't look like you can access the controls while the door is closed while washer is running.

QuestionHow does this do when drying the dishes in the end?

- Answer Awesome! KA is one the few manufacturers out there that still use the heated dry functionality. Most others use the Steam Dry, which requires the rinse aid in order to get the dishes to dry. I've not had one isssue with drying - even my stubborn Tupperware is dry!

- Answer A small white light appears on the front of the door when cycle is complete. A red light is shown when it is in the drying cycle. A blue light is visible during the wash/rinse cycle.

QuestionIf the controls are hidden while the door is closed/unit running, how do you stop the cycle if you need to add or subtract anything from the load? Just open the door? (that seems risky, water-wise)

- Answer Opening the door stops it, no worries I've been doing that for over 20 years, never an issue. You can reset if need be at that point.

- Answer Bottom right....front to back...it's very spacious. Just know going in that you don't have the right side of the bottom shelf, but you'll love the size of the tray. Also we took off the separators at the top...they were cumbersome, but removable so you don't have to use them.

- Answer I recently purchased a kitchen aide dishwasher from Best Buy and had them install it too. It was delivered about 4 days after I ordered it and installed within an hour! They even had to put an outlet in since the old dishwasher(which they took out and hauled away) did not need an outlet. Very efficient, fast service--I highly recommend! Other stores selling the same dishwasher could not promise a delivery for nearly a month. The dishwasher is so quiet I have to press my ear up to it to know its on.

- Answer Jane, great question and a concern I had. As some dishwashers have no vents, I had one on our previous kitchen aid and glad we did. When we installed our new one, I simply pulled it forward slightly at installation where the vent was ever so visible versus completely enclosed. The heat escapes out the vent and draws forward eliminating it from going against or behind the unit. It still sits flush and well under the stone countertop and recessed .
